Just Released! BART OIG Snapshot | Volume 03 | Issue 01
I am pleased to share the BART Office of the Inspector General’s (OIG) latest snapshot, highlighting our work from July 1 to September 30, 2025. Our office remains dedicated to advancing accountability, transparency, and efficiency across the District through independent oversight and high-quality results.
This quarter, we completed two investigations and continued work on several others involving the potential misuse of BART assets, billing irregularities, and project management concerns. Each case, whether straightforward or complex, reflects our commitment to protecting public resources and strengthening public trust.
We also advanced several key audits from our FY24–26 Audit Plan, while launching our new FY26–28 Audit Plan to guide future oversight. The overtime audit has been completed and presented to the BART Board, and reports on construction contract change orders, Link21 spending, and workers’ compensation are in final quality review. Our team also began a take-home vehicle audit to assess accountability and consistency in fleet oversight.
Internally, we continued to strengthen quality assurance under Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS) and prepared for our upcoming external peer review scheduled for December 2025.
The full snapshot below provides details on our investigations, audits, recommendations, and office highlights.
