The BART Office of the Inspector General (OIG) has released a new investigation report examining contractor billing practices on a major capital project.

The investigation resulted in $1.7 million recovered through settlements with contractors after identifying serious weaknesses in how time-and-materials charges were verified and approved.

Our findings underscore the importance of strong oversight controls in protecting public funds and maintaining trust. The report also details corrective actions taken to address the risks identified.
